In early February 2025, Sheila, her sister Jane, Rob, and I arrived in Athens for a three-day stay before embarking on a cruise through the Greek Islands. Over the course of this journey, we were thrilled to visit an incredible nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites!
Our first scheduled port of call was Santorini, Greece. However, due to seismic warnings and recent tremors, our Viking cruise ship was rerouted to Kuşadası, Turkey—a fortunate change for Sheila and me, as it offered a second visit to the magnificent ancient city of Ephesus.
Throughout the trip, my Apple iPhone camera proved to be an invaluable tool, especially in capturing low-light interior scenes. Panorama shots? All taken with the iPhone, of course—thank you, Steve Jobs!
Some of my favourite and most colourful photographs came during the golden hours of sunset from the ship—honestly, it's hard to take a bad picture at that time of day.
After two memorable weeks at sea, the cruise ended in Rome, from where Sheila and I flew to Palermo, Sicily to continue our journey.
