The Rolinghers with Sheila Laughton and Wei Yew took the 12-day Oceania cruise Samba Rhythms from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro in December, 2009. Between the two major ports, there was really not much to see, especially when the stopovers were relatively short. The highlight was definitely the Cristo Redentor and the Favelas in Rio de Janeiro.
A note about Teatro Colón. It was closed for renovation while we were here. But in 2020 we went back to visit this fabulous theatre.
This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here on top of Corcovado Mountain, we saw a stunning and spectacular view of Rio.
What a treat to visit the backdrop of many movies filmed in the Favelas.
